"Cyrano's Place is a family-oriented fencing club who believes that the joy of fencing does not stop when you unhook from your strip, but continues to dinner after practice, to the Magic game on the weekends, exploration of the hotels and elaborate discussions of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness that occur!" - Sara Kass, Head Coach
Why should I try fencing?Fencing has been part of every Summer Olympic Games since the very first Olympic Games were held in 1896. It is one of the safest Olympic sports, according to the National Athletic Trainers Association (NATA). Protective safety equipment and the limited stress on the body make fencing a lifetime sport, and one that is safe for the whole family. Fencing has been described by many as "physical chess". While learning new skills, beginners are introduced to the tactics of a chess player. Many beginners finish class dripping with sweat, not realizing how much work they have just done. Why? Because they have been solving puzzles, not just getting exercise. For more information about the sport, visit: http://www.USFencing.org. Who fences?Colleges do! In Ohio, Cleveland State University and Ohio State University have varsity teams that offer fencing scholarships for both men and women. Who fences? Big, small, young, old, male, female - all fence! Come see for yourself! |
